The miter saw is used to cut different kinds of woods. On the flat surface of the saw, cross angled cut across with a wide face is called as miter on any miter saw. Before you are cutting a wood piece turn its edge side and cut it from that edge.
Generally, the miter saws cut start from 90 to 45-degree angle in both directions and rarely some of the miters saw can cut the wood from 55-degree angles. There are many different kinds of miter saws available in the market based on the blade diameter which commonly ranges from 10 inches to 12 inches.
The huge size blade will give you a deeper and wider cut. Normally a small size saw will cut about a
2 x 6 at 90 degrees angle and about a 2 x 4 at 45 degrees angles. A big size miter saw will cut a
2 x 8 at 90 degrees angle and a 2 x 6 at 45 degrees angle.

Miter saws can also be differentiated by the blade arm which is simply rotates called a basic miter saw and a sliding miter saw which has both swings and slides in cutters. The sliding option provided with the miter cutter allow you to cut the wider range wood boards.
For a
good miter saw blade arm should have both swings at a cutting angle and tile at the angle of bed for the blade to get perfect cutting results.
Important precautions before handling the miter saw:
- Before you are using the miter saw wear an eye production shield to protect your eyes from dust.
- When you are going for cutting the treated lumber, wear hand gloves and dust protection mask on your nose.
- If you are wearing a loose cloth, the secure it and secure your jewelry and long hair when you have it.
- Keep your hands at least 6 inches away from the blade and off the turntable and don’t make your arms at the cross position when you cut the wood.
- When you lift the cutting blade up still you feel it is spinning it can toss small pieces into the air and mark the end of the board when you are cutting it, so be the safe from it.
- Place a support wood to your work wood with a help of feed support or stand.
- Finally, don’t ignore the saw manufacturer’s instructions when using it which help you to maintain your saw at a good level and keep you safe.
Cutting a wood with a miter saw:
The cut angle of the blade and thickness of the wood are the factors to determine where the blade will contact the material. Before you are cutting the wood when the marking board goes length from the line across the stock, drop the blade to the wood to check your alignment before starting the saw.
While you are cutting the board keep more than ½ of the wood length on the saw. If the board of cutting is too long, then stack a few scraps next to the saw to support the overhanging board. If you are want to save more time you can mount the saw on the saw stand with a supports for a long stock.
Keep the wood stock opposite to the fence which was a fence at the back of the saw base and hold it with your hands, then start operating your saw. And always keep your another hand on the handle of the saw to get a perfect cutting experience.
