Like it or not, Apple dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack from its new iPhone 7 will be debated and talked about for many, many months to come.
However, the decision by Apple will generate some real changes to the way you might charge and play music from an iPhone. Though Apple did say the move was "courageous" when it announced the phone, it didn’t give answers for those who may want to play music and charge their phone at the same time.
Like you are probably thinking already, Bluetooth headphones are the best solution for this kind of scenario.
If you are using Apple's included adapter that lets you use normal headphones with iPhone 7, you still won't be able to listen to music and charge at the same time.
Sometimes, I like to listen to music and charge my phone at the same time when I am on long flights and travelling long distances (shoutout to power banks) and this no 3.5mm thing would be a big issue too.
So what is the solution to this problem? Well, right now, unless you can afford Apple's $160
AirPods, the only other option is the already existing $49 Apple Dock which lets you charge and play music.
Having to use a $49 dock for something you'd expect any modern smartphone to handle with ease is not ideal, but Apple is laying the foundation for a wireless future and the 3.5mm jack is just one of the many casualties that will feel the brunt.
